You too Wharf!

That set list is very similar to shows I saw that fall, starting in Aug with Brent coming on board (at least that was when I saw him first), but because the venue (for me anyhow) had switched from SF (Wint) to Oak (col/aud), it was never the same.

Anybody else have that exp in the Bay Area? The feeling that the Oak shows were somehow inferior to SF shows due to the influence of "place"?

Didn't finally make it out west till Frost '85, but can relate well. Similar experiences with places like when they switched from the Syracuse War Memorial to the Dome.

Thankful that I started early enough (well not THAT early) to see shows like Barton Hall '81, Rochester War Memorial, etc. before the big push came.

Yeah, for us, SF shows had a "origins" kind of feel, whatever that was, whereas Oak shows were sorta "new" or "commercial" or whatever (large stark parking lots, not a venue "inserted" within the local city, etc., etc.).

Now that I think of it though, the whole "parking lot" scene, which I missed, needed the venues like Oak I suppose???

Me too vapors except I made the Irvine shows a couple of weeks before the Frost. Great times.

I don't know that I agree. I saw some prety terrific shows there. I was more interested in sound than place and they did figure that out. Heck, I saw the Boys in a dirt rodeo pit in Ventura. :) OTOH, you and I have seen the same shows. Maybe I pushed over you in a hurry to go and pee during drums?

Don't get me wrong--in no way a comment on how they played...just my perception of the "place"...obvious, I guess. Would prefer Fillmore over Winterland, Winterland over Oak, etc.
